AQUARIUS AQ Hostel,
Byron Bay, NSW, Australia
This project combines a 3,072 m² renovation with a 4,205 m² new build to create a modern, functional hostel accommodating 408 single and 60 double beds. An innovative structural system underpins the design, ensuring efficiency and adaptability for its large capacity.

The architecture embraces the tropical climate by integrating passive ventilation strategies with open-air common spaces that enhance airflow and comfort. Native plants are woven throughout, creating lush green spaces that blur the line between indoors and outdoors. Inspired by the concept of a hanging garden, the design fosters visual connectivity across spaces, offering a vibrant, communal atmosphere. The result is a sustainable and inviting environment that seamlessly blends nature, functionality, and modern design.

ADU Van Nuys, Los Angeles
The ADU is a linear structure that integrates utility with the surrounding garden, balancing functionality and aesthetics. Featuring a combined garage and art studio, it creates a public-facing courtyard that invites interaction while dividing the garden into three functional courtyards, each connected to interior spaces.
The entry garden, centered by a mature tree, provides shade and a natural focal point, while the adjacent pool patio offers a serene outdoor retreat. A private space beside the pool contrasts with the public areas, ensuring versatility. The design maximizes space and incorporates passive natural ventilation, sunlight, and thermal control strategies, embracing Los Angeles’ climate and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
